“Do Your Best and Leave the Rest to God!!
I’ve heard my dear father, Meenakshisundaram Mohan say this, thousands of times, in my growing up years. I fondly remember the innumerable scooter rides to music classes and music competitions, with him by my side. The pride and joy that used to radiate from his being, whenever he heard his daughter’s name announced as “the first prize winner”, in a music competition, warms my heart even today, three decades after!
The countless sacrifices he made, taking up night shifts at work, so he could chauffeur me around, through the day, to my varied musical activities, leaves me wondering if I could ever be such a parent?? He never seemed to really need anything other than realising his children’s potential, to the fullest possible!
As I write these words, my whole being, fills with gratitude and unexpressable emotions! What I am today, would have never been possible, without my father’s total dedication to my dream, of being a well accomplished musician.
Appa’s unflinching faith in my abilities and hard work, has always empowered me, and continues to do so!! Even though, getting a prize meant validation of your skills and efforts, Appa always reminded me, that no matter what the result was, knowing you did the best possible, within your means, without any compromises, is the best prize you can give yourself! Cos, we never know the hidden, unknown variables from our previous lives, that determine the results of our actions in this life!
What we don’t know, or see, we don’t understand and hence, Appa always insisted that I do things with utmost sincerity, without wondering what the result would be! This attitude has stood me in good stead over the years, helping me enjoy the processes, finding fulfillment and minimizing my disappointments!
When we hand over the wheels of our lives to God, the all knowing, all powerful, almighty, I guess, we have a better chance of going through life, happily and peacefully, rather than trusting our limited selves! Cos, the God in us is infallible, and if he does something, it has to be the best! So when we leave it to God to act on our behalf, best happens!!
The great film song writer, Kannadasan ayya once wrote in a song that the unspoken words were invaluable –
Solladha Sollukku, Vilai Edhum Illai
( in the song Naan Pesa Ninaippadhellam).
Ramana Maharishi, the great realised soul from Tiruvannamalai, my guru, advocates silence as an essential tool for self realisation!
So honestly, I don’t really feel the need to write or express anything at all! So why am I blogging???? Good question! My darling friend and fan Dhanya, who is singly responsible for my media presence, in the internet world, be it Facebook, YouTube or whatever, so much wishes for a blog from me… Guess she likes what I write to her and wants to share it with the world!
Everyday is a rebirth, we know not what’s in store… So it’s better to enjoy every moment, without too much thought of tomorrow and further so, the future! God willing, you may or may not see me again!
Stay blessed always!!

Yes,all is His work and His doing…He creates and recreates each and every scene!
Mam,
A reply in one word “great”.
This article is no doubt a good inspiration for all especially a person like me as I’m pursuing a difficult course along with the job.
Yes it is very true that we should not think of the result.
Thank you and your dear friend for this blog.
Wish you good days ahead.
